I have been working in the fashion industry for over 30 years, most notably Hang Ten Juniors, Nordstrom, and Eddie Bauer. My early career was Photo Art Directing on-figure shoots, both on-location and in-studio. Mid career I was teamed with a photographer as a Photo Art Director and Product Stylist, on-location and in-studio, for Eddie Bauer. In 2002, I went on staff at the in-house studio, Studio N, for the on-line division of Nordstrom Inc., Nordstrom Direct. At that time there were only four employees including myself.
As Senior Producer at Studio N, I was managing a staff of 7 employees and another 6-7 freelancers daily; I art directed, estimated and produced all product photography; directed the workflow; trained stylists to ensure Nordstrom branding; and was the liaison on sample sharing integration systems between Nordstrom Direct and the Marketing department for the full line store, Nordstrom Inc.
I resigned my position in July 2008, relocating to Amherst, Massachusetts, where I currently reside.
Currently I apply these skills to my avocation, weaving, photographing my handwovens and the weavings of others in the surrounding Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts. I just recently completed working on a monograph for the Weavers' Guild of Boston, photographing the majority of the handwoven articles and laying out all 208 pages.
When I am not volunteering my time to either the University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center or the Engineers Without Borders Student Chapter, catching up on my three grown children, traveling with my husband to India and other points of interest, I try to find time to weave!
